I received the sad news around 10am today that my friend, fellow musician & band mate Inez Moralez passed away after suffering and struggling with a debilitating illness. As much as I hurt for losing my friend, I hurt too for Inez’s family. Inez was a loyal friend and clearly an amazing & talented person. For once I seem to be at a loss for words as I try to express my grief and my sympathy for those people closest to Inez; to his loved ones left behind. All Call to Bands for Ike Victims Fundraiser
Need Local Bands to Join in on Ike Victim Fundraiser It is great to see so many venues doing what they can to assist the Ike victims along the Gulf Coast. Cruise Control has made contact with Bea Hanson at the local food bank to partner up for an all day (maybe two day) fundraising event in mid-October. We know that when the hype is down, assistance is slow to get to the people who need it. So, by pushing the event into October, we can continue to get supplies and monies needed for the victims of the Gulf Coast as they begin their long process of recovery from this catastrophic event. For this to be successful, we need your help. If your band would like to donate (no monies for us artists) an hour or more of their time to entertain people who would be donating supplies or monies, please send an e-mail to cruisecontrol50@hotmail.com or call (361) 548-1194 or (361) 779-4402. Possible dates at this time (and this is not yet set in stone) would be Saturday, October 11, and Sunday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to ??? Fire On Water is willing to work with us on this. They have a nice big stage and they can run sound (that would make all of our lives easier). They are talking about running specials during the event. If this venue does not work, we might be looking at Heritage Park, Cole Park, or some something else. This will be a good way for local bands to come together and give to those in need! Hope to hear from all of you. Once we know how many bands are interested, we can start solidifying the venue, alerting the media, and getting schedules. Please help us succeed in this effort. All Call to Bands for Ike Victims Fundraiser
Need Local Bands to Join in on Ike Victim Fundraiser It is great to see so many venues doing what they can to assist the Ike victims along the Gulf Coast. Cruise Control has made contact with Bea Hanson at the local food bank to partner up for an all day (maybe two day) fundraising event in mid-October. We know that when the hype is down, assistance is slow to get to the people who need it. So, by pushing the event into October, we can continue to get supplies and monies needed for the victims of the Gulf Coast as they begin their long process of recovery from this catastrophic event. For this to be successful, we need your help. If your band would like to donate (no monies for us artists) an hour or more of their time to entertain people who would be donating supplies or monies, please send an e-mail to cruisecontrol50@hotmail.com or call (361) 548-1194 or (361) 779-4402. Possible dates at this time (and this is not yet set in stone) would be Saturday, October 11, and Sunday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to ??? Fire On Water is willing to work with us on this. They have a nice big stage and they can run sound (that would make all of our lives easier). They are talking about running specials during the event. If this venue does not work, we might be looking at Heritage Park, Cole Park, or some something else. This will be a good way for local bands to come together and give to those in need! Hope to hear from all of you. Once we know how many bands are interested, we can start solidifying the venue, alerting the media, and getting schedules. Please help us succeed in this effort.
